Vancouver is a coastal seaport city located on the mainland of British Columbia, with a population of over 2.7 million people. Also known as a gateway to the Pacific, Vancouver’s economy is booming specifically in the forestry, industrial, shipping, and tech industries. This city is the largest in Western Canada and is home to the Vancouver Canucks (NHL), BC Lions (CFL), Vancouver Whitecaps (MLS), and was home to the 2010 Winter Olympics. Vancouver is known for its abundance of outdoor recreation represented through Whistler, several other ski destinations, Stanley Park, the North Shore trail network, marathons, and a variety of bicycle related events.
Transportation and getting around in Vancouver is a breeze. It features fabulous public transportation alternatives through the Skytrain, public transit buses, the Seabus, and the wide bicycle lanes which many use to bike to work.
Vancouver is also home to great nightlife and entertainment venues. The music scene is very diverse from the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Vancouver Opera, to popular rock, electronic, jazz, and folk bands visiting Vancouver’s many music venues on a regular basis. Granville Entertainment district is home to a variety of arts, theatres, and bars/nightclubs, sure never to leave you without something to do.
Restaurants range from West Coast fusion, American, Indian, to every type of Asian cuisine, and will be sure to satisfy even the pickiest palate.
